MIAMI VIKES is the Viking Fan Club of South Florida and one of the largest Viking Fan Clubs outside of the state of Minnesota. Our club was founded by Jay Shapiro at the start of the 2009-2010 football season. Our first ever event was at Bamboo Beach Club & Tiki Bar at Ocean Manor Hotel in Fort Lauderdale's Little Italy area known as Galt Ocean Mile. Our first event was attended by founding members Jay Shapiro, Jimmy Loretz, Troy Gies, Christine Cloutier and even Hotel owner Frank Talerico joined in on the fun. MIAMI VIKES quickly grew in size and we outgrew our founding location yet for some events we still do return there to support Bamboo Beach Club especially late Monday and Thursday night football games. Following the tiki bar we ended up with some bars which were closed almost as soon as they were open such as: Maracas on Federal Hwy (currently Black Olive Estiatorio) the North Ridge Sports Lounge, Hot Shots on University Ave in Sunrise and The Brick House which is now Joe's Crab Shack. Since 2013-2014 season we have been hosting our events at Champp's Americana in Fort Lauderdale. Champp's has been very generous with us as they have granted us our own private event room, free burger program and an MVP points program. The waitstaff there is excellent! G0 IGOR!!!, Thank you Jaime and Josh!!! Since we have been at the Champp's location we have attracted some of our most loyal fan club members such as: Bruce Laden, MJ Breezy Patton, Tess & Donnie Paulsen, James Evans, Luis Ray Palomino, Lee Humma and several others. Not only are the fans great but we have great connections with the players. Many members had their picture taken with Tommy Kramer at the December 21st 2014 game in Miami, MN Vikings Kicker Blair Walsh's family members attend our events as well as Teddy Bridgewater Sr. who is a great guy and a 23 year military veteran and he swears that with his son as quarterback the Vikings will go to the Superbowl!!! We are all very excited about the new Viking Stadium, about the 2015 football season and about the growth of our club in general. Skol!!!!!!! Update 2017 - We had a rough time last year and Champps ended up going out of business but it was a blessing in disguise as we are now meeting at the legendary spot: The Historic Downtowner Saloon which was founded in 1926. The Vikings just drafted Dalvin Cook from Florida State and our 500 fan club members are all excited about the new venue and the season in general.
